uncontacted tribe photographed for the first time

one of the world’s last remaining uncontacted tribes has been photographed from the air by a brazillian expedition

the apocalypsoesque (a la mel gibson, one of to wit’s ‘favourite’ anti-semite alcoholics) photographs, taken on wednesday, show members of the tribe painted brightly and wielding spears.  very little evidence exists of such tribes’ existence making the find extremely important.

josé carlos dos reis meirelles júnior, who works for the brazillian govenrment’s indian affairs department, warns that uncontacted tribes are threatened by the illegal logging that is rampant in the amazon.  the fact that the tribes are not known to the government means they are at at high risk of being killed by loggers if they impede the destruction of their forests.
