bo diddley

Bo diddley died on June 2nd, aged 79 from heart failure. To wit had the pleasure of seeing Bo live in the flesh a few years ago, and must say, he was a legend.

Bo Diddley’s trademark instrument was the rectangular-bodied Gretsch, nicknamed “The Twang Machine.” Although he had other similar-shaped guitars custom-made for him by other manufacturers, he fashioned this guitar himself around 1958 and wielded it in thousands of concerts over the years. The Bo Diddley Beat has ‘inspired’ many many artists, from Bruce Springsteen, to the White Stripes, and the Stooges. His best known track ‘Road Runner’ is an absolute classic. Long live the Twang Machine!
